Yannis Katsikandarakis | Songwriter & Theatre Composer

Born in 1979 and raised in Chania.

He studied piano and theory/solfège at the Venizelio Conservatory of Chania & the Attic Conservatory (Chania branch) with Natalie Gravari. Since 2002, he has been a member of the music band OKTAVA with recordings since 2003. He is a songwriter/singer and theatre music composer since 2007. He has attended the two-year photography seminar of Michalis Kalaitzakis, 2010-2012, and has participated in several group photography exhibitions. Member of the Oneness Act Cultural Company since 2022. 

He has been working at the Conference Center of the Mediterranean Agricultural Institute of Chania (CIHEAM-M.A.I.Ch.) since 2008, in the organization and hosting of workshops, conferences & summer schools, at the same time he is the communication representative of the institute (social media, press releases, etc.). He has a BA in Tourism, Heritage & Arts Management, 1998-2002, from the University of Greenwich, U.K. while running a small hotel family unit in the old town of Chania since 2005.
